TWO BOWLERS · ONE TEAM
Your combined score. Your shared challenge.
Six games each
Each partner bowls six full traditional scratch games. Add both partners’ six-game blocks to determine the team’s qualifying total: 12 scores.
One in four teams
The top one in four eligible teams advance, rounded up, with a minimum cut of two. Qualifying rank sets the seeds. A field of fewer than two eligible teams cannot start the championship.
Four scores per match
Each partner bowls one full traditional game, followed by two Baker team games. Add all four scores. The higher total advances; one loss eliminates a team. Pins reset for each match, including the final.
In Baker games, partners alternate frames and switch odd/even frame roles between the two games. The bowler assigned frame 10 completes any fill balls.
Tiebreak procedure: Qualifying ties affecting the cut or a seed are decided by one Baker roll-off game, repeated among teams still tied. A tied match total is decided by one Baker roll-off game, repeated until a winner is determined. Partners switch odd/even frame roles after each roll-off. Roll-off scores break the tie only and are not added to qualifying or match totals. Results remain pending until staff record the decision.
Doubles results are published separately and do not award singles conference points.
Register and choose your partner
$275.00 member · $325.00 nonmember, per bowler. Each partner completes their own registration and payment. Enter your partner’s name and confirm a matching registered bowler as your teammate. Your entries are paired for scoring once both are paid in this division and the same qualifying squad. If your partner has not registered yet, save their name and return to My Events to confirm them later.
Qualifying and match times
PBO Doubles Challenge. Two bowlers, one team. Each bowler registers and pays individually. Enter your partner’s name during registration and confirm a matching registered bowler as your teammate. Your entries are paired for scoring once both are paid. If your partner has not registered yet, save their name and confirm your teammate from My Events when they register. Entry fees and capacity are per bowler.
Combine both partners’ 6-game scratch blocks into a 12-score team total. After every qualifying squad finishes, the top one in four eligible teams advance, rounded up, with a minimum cut of two teams. At least two eligible teams and complete qualifying scores are required to start match play.
Each team bowls one full traditional game per partner, then 2 Baker team games. Add those 4 scores; the higher total wins and advances. Pins reset for every match. Qualifying determines seeding only. Highest seeds receive opening byes when needed.
Partners alternate frames in each Baker game and switch odd/even frame roles between Baker games. The bowler assigned frame 10 completes any fill balls.
Qualifying ties affecting the cut or a seed use one Baker roll-off, repeated among teams still tied. Tied matches use one Baker roll-off, repeated until a winner. Partners switch odd/even roles after each roll-off. Roll-off scores break ties only and are not added to totals.
The published match-play start begins 10 minutes of warmup. Allow 60 minutes per championship round, 15 minutes between rounds for score verification and pair changeover, and 20 minutes for awards. These changeovers do not include a full re-oil. The final uses the same 4-score format. Staff confirm each round’s start after the prior round is verified.
This timetable assumes one matchup per lane pair, with four bowlers on that pair, and all matches in each round running concurrently. Fewer available pairs require a longer schedule.
Estimated 4-round timetable. Based on a planning field of 52 teams and a cut to 13. Actual team entries, byes, ties, and playing pace can change the finishing time.
All times are local to the bowling center. Qualifying takes approximately 300 minutes, including warmup and score verification. Playing pace and tiebreakers may affect finishing times. Check in and view your assigned lane in your PBO profile when posted.
Results will appear here.
Team qualifying standings and championship matches will be shown when PBO opens this event’s public results.
