The PBO rulebook establishes one professional competition standard for athletes, officials, staff, and sanctioned events. Event bulletins add venue-specific schedules and formats without replacing the governing rules.
COMPETITION ESSENTIALS
The full rulebook controls. These highlights provide a quick starting point and do not replace eligibility review, the event bulletin, or an official ruling.
Open competitors must have a USBC-verified entering average of 195 or higher. Senior 50+ and Women’s competitors must have a verified average of 185 or higher, using an eligible average from one of the two most recently completed USBC seasons.
An entry is complete only when all required information, eligibility documentation, and payment have been received. Competitors must check in by the published deadline and attend required rules meetings.
Bowling balls and related equipment must satisfy the governing specifications and any stricter PBO event restriction. Equipment may be inspected before or during competition.
Athletes must compete honestly, safely, respectfully, and without conduct that threatens competitive integrity. Protest, enforcement, due-process, and appeal procedures are included in the official rules.
