EVERY PARTICIPANT COUNTS

Every event.
Every point.

Earn points when you participate. Earn more when you cash. Climb your conference standings toward the PBO National Championship.

Season dates and eligible events are published for each points season. Only certified results assigned to that season count toward its standings. The competition rulebook and event bulletin continue to govern eligibility and play.

From 11th place onward: 50 + (150 ÷ finishing place), rounded to two decimals. The examples above show selected places. Awards are totals; the 25 participation points are not added again.

Start with participation

An eligible bowler who completes at least one official game receives 25 points if they do not cash. A withdrawal after that minimum receives 25 points unless the official final results preserve a cashing place, in which case the cashing award applies. No-shows, entries with no completed official game, ineligible entries, and event-level disqualifications receive zero.

Cash and climb

Cashing means earning a share of the event division’s certified main prize fund. Optional brackets, side pots, and special sponsor awards do not create a cashing finish. Points use the official finish and cashing status, even when prize payment is pending or declined.

A full-points division must have a main cash purse and a single certified winner. Participation-only events award 25 points to eligible participants. Excluded events do not count. The event bulletin identifies the applicable treatment.

One finish, one award

Each bowler receives one award per event and division. Qualifying attempts, re-entries, individual games, and component rounds do not add separate awards. Open, Senior 50+, and Women’s points stay in separate standings.

Tied finishes share points

Tied cashers share the average of the points for all positions they occupy. This also applies when a tie shares the final cashing payout. The average is rounded to two decimals. First place must be resolved under the event’s published tie procedures before full points are certified.

Example: two bowlers tie for fourth

Fourth earns 100 and fifth earns 90. Each tied bowler receives 95.00 points. The next finisher is sixth. Non-cashing participants each receive 25.00.

Points follow the event’s conference

Bowl in the Mountain Conference and those points count in the Mountain Conference, regardless of your home address. Bowl in another conference and that event contributes to that conference’s standings. All-conference totals show your season across conferences; national invitations are decided within each conference.

The race to the top ten

Season standings add all eligible certified event awards. Tied totals are compared by cashing wins, then cashing second places, third places, and continuing finishes. If that still leaves a tie across the tenth-place cutoff, the affected places remain pending an announced competitive tiebreak. Alphabetical order does not decide an invitation.

The championship page and season standings identify the qualifying division or divisions. A provisional position in the top ten is not a final invitation. Invitations follow finalized standings, resolution of cutoff ties, and eligibility review.

National Championship added prize fund

The $50,000 total added prize fund will be split among the championship divisions. Each division’s allocation will be announced with the final payout schedule.

Corrections

PBO may correct scoring, eligibility, clerical, or disciplinary errors under the Official Competition Rules. Corrected and recertified results update the standings. Existing protest and appeal procedures continue to apply.

Official launch: December 2026. Tournament announcements and competition updates will be published as they are finalized.
